ZAMBOANGA CITY– A grenade explosion at a Catholic church in Zamboanga City wounded five people, police said.
Most of the victims were elderly villagers who were having a meeting at the San Isidro Labrador Church in Barangay Talon-Talon.
Police said one of two men on a motorcycle threw the grenade, which exploded on the entrance to the old church.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Just recently, the house of a village chieftain Mohammad Nur Attang in Zamboanga City was bombed by two men on a motorcycle in the neighboring village of Mampang, injuring three people.
