ZAMBOANGA CITY: Preparations are underway for this city’s participation in the 2016 Philippine Youth Games-Batang Pinoy National Championship slated on November 27 to December 2 in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
Cecilla Atilano, city sports development officer, told the Philippines News Agency that this city is sending a 297-man delegation, including 52 coaches and officials to the sports event.
Atilano said most of the athletes comprising the delegation are products of the yearly summer sports learning program of the city government while the rest have qualified during the Zamboanga Hermosa plus tryout.
Atilano said athletes of the winning delegation would be enlisted into the Philippine team that will compete in the 2018 Youth Olympics.
Atilano is optimistic that the Zamboanga delegation of would shine in taekwondo, karatedo, pencak silat, wrestling, weightlifting, and swimming.
