DAVAO CITY: Zamboanga City Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco has offered P200,000 reward money for the capture of the bomber behind Friday’s bus bombing that left at least 33 people wounded.
“(The bombing is) an act of injustice to innocent civilians,” said Climaco.
The lone fatality has been identified as 14-year-old Fatima Imbriada.
Climaco said the investigation is still ongoing but authorities are looking at failed extortion as the likely motive behind the attack.
She also renewed her call on bus companies to strictly enforce inspection of bags of passengers to prevent future attacks.
Many of the wounded victims have returned to their homes, although several remain in the hospital because of serious injuries. Climaco said the local government provided assistance to the victims.
Police said the bomb ripped through the bus, owned by Biel Transit, at a terminal in downtown Zamboanga at about 2.15 p.m.
Meanwhile, acting city Mayor Cesar Iturralde said the local government has mobilized its personnel and resources to assist the victims, especially in their medical needs.
Of the 33 injured, 21 were slightly injured, nine were less serious and three were seriously injured.
