ZAMBOANGA CITY: Police reported two abductions in Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Norte involving a fish broker and a village chieftain.
The fish broker, Edrin Agca, a resident of Dipolog went to the fishing village of Magdaup, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay to give the salaries of her crew. On their way home one of the fishermen hitched a ride but later pulled out a gun and commandeered her truck back to the shore where six unidentified gunmen joined him.
Zamboanga Sibugay Police forces have been deployed to rescue Cynthia Caboverde, 48 and her partner Agca. Police said one of the abductors Adznar Chiong, 25, was arrested in a follow up operation and was properly identified by the woman’s driver and cousin, Ricky Baid Albon.
The gunmen got away with the couple’s bag containing P800,000 and then dragged the woman to a waiting motorized boat. Caboverde’s partner and her driver, Albon were both left behind by the abductors for still unknown reason.
In a separate incident in Zamboanga del Norte, masked gunmen barged in the house of Cecilia Alas-as, village chieftain of Paniran in Sibuco town and dragged her to the shore where a motorboat was waiting.
Police tried to chase the gunmen, but failed. The motive of the abduction is still unknown.
Policemen responded immediately and conducted sea-borne patrol along the seawater of Sibuco to rescue the victim.
Sibuco Municipal Police Station is conducting thorough investigation to determine the identities of the suspects and the whereabouts of the victim,” said Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman.
No individual or group has yet claimed responsibility for the abduction.
