IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay: Local young athletes here had been encouraged to show their best in the forthcoming 2016 Philippine Youth Games-Batang Pinoy National Championship.
The athletic event, which is open for children 17 years old and below, is scheduled to be held from November 27 to December 2 in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
Governor Wilter Palma made the encouragement on Thursday as he released PhP 151,000 financial support to the 41-man delegation, including six coaches, to the week-long athletic competition.
“Show your best and bring honor to the province,” Palma told the local athletic delegation.
The athletes will compete in six athletic events that include table tennis, volleyball, taekwondo, wu shu, badminton and lawn tennis.
Athletes of the winning delegation will be enlisted into the Philippine team that will represent the country in the 2018 Youth Olympics.
Batang Pinoy is open to all Filipino citizens whether by birth or naturalized.
Foreign-Pinoy may also join provided they represent a particular local government unit.
