Petron cements domestic leadership position with 2,000 stations

Petron Corp., the country’s leading oil refining and marketing company, marked another milestone recently having established more than 2,000 service stations nationwide.

In a statement, Ramon Ang, Petron chairman and chief executive, said that there are now 2,025 Petron service stations across the Philippines as of the third quarter of the year, which is by far the largest in the industry.

“Today, even the most far-flung areas of our country have Petron service stations, enabling our countrymen to have access to world-class products and services while spurring growth in the countryside. This is our vision and we are making it come true one service station at a time,” Ang said.

At the start of 2009, the company embarked on a massive network expansion program primarily aimed giving Filipinos more access to its top-of-the-line products and services. It has also given an opportunity to hundreds of Filipino entrepreneurs to partner with a company they can trust.

Petron has increased the number of its service stations by nearly 60 percent since the expansion started nearly four years ago.

The network expansion has also allowed the company to enhance its leadership position with 38.3 percent of the market as of the first quarter of 2012.

Petron also said that its expansion program is on-going with dozens of service stations in various stages of development and construction at any time.

Parallel to this program, Petron is also undertaking a major upgrade at its 180,000 barrel-a-day Bataan province refinery, which will convert its remaining fuel oil production into higher margin white products and petrochemicals.
