NISSAN TEANA SERVES AS TECH MINISTERS’ OFFICIAL CAR
NISSAN Motor Phils. Inc. (NMPI) said it had provided a fleet of its Nissan Teana executive sedan for the use of the dignitaries that attended the 12th Asean Telecommunications and Information Technology
Ministers Meeting (TELMIN) and the 13th Asean Telecommunications and Information Technology Senior Officials Meeting (TELSOM), which were held in Mactan, Cebu from November 11 to 16.
As the official vehicle provider for the event, NMPI said that it turned over 17 Teana 2.5L vehicles to the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) division of the Department of Science and Technology, organizer of the events. The vehicles were used to transport officials from 10 Asean member states and dialog partners from China, India, Japan, Korea, the European Union and the International Telecommunications Union.
“NMPI is honored to take part in this auspicious event as the official vehicle of the delegates,” said NMPI President and Chief Executive Officer Allen Chen. “We recognize that the 2012 TELSOM and TELMIN gatherings serve as important venues in helping the different countries, including the Philippines, to realize the significance of ICT in this fast-changing world as one of the leading economic drivers.”
In October, the Teana was also named the official luxury transport partner of the 2012 Philippine Wine and Food Week, according to NMPI.
The company added that it is offering the car, available in 2.5L and 3.5L variants, through special financing deals, with the 2.5L available in zero interest terms for up to 36 months (50-percent down payment).

SUZUKI PH INAUGURATES MOTORCYCLE PLANT IN LAGUNA
SUZUKI Phils. Inc. (SPH) announced it had recently inaugurated its manufacturing plant at the Carmelray Industrial Park, Canlubang, Laguna. The plant’s inauguration coincided with the visit of Suzuki Motor Corp. chairman and Chief Executive Officer Osamu Suzuki, SPH said.
It added that the new manufacturing plant, which stands on a 126,599-square-meter land, actually started full operation in May—two weeks ahead of schedule. The plant has an annual production capacity of 200,000 units and is expected to support Suzuki’s motorcycle production in 2013.
“The Canlubang plant will enhance local parts procurement and its larger production capacity will also make us ready for the growing motorcycle market as it is equipped with better machines and processes.” Suzuki added.
SPH said the company chairman also attended the plant’s ground-breaking ceremony held on July 2, 2011.
SPH noted that it mulled building a new plant in 2009 when the company raised its sales volume target for 2013. Suzuki’s assembly plant used to stand at a 6,706-square-meter facility in Pasig City, which has a maximum production capacity of 8,000 units a month.
The company’s operations has been moved to the Canlubang manufacturing plant, SPH said.
“This new milestone is keeping true to our company’s promise to better the Filipino lives in every aspect, not only with quality vehicles at affordable price, but with provisions of an array of jobs for the people.” said SPH President Satoshi Uchida.
