TOYOTA Motor Phils. (TMP) announced it has already surpassed its highest annual sales figures in only the first 11 months of the year.
Citing reports released by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI), TMP said its total reached 58,890 units (including Lexus vehicles) from January to November, topping its 2011 result of 56,855 vehicles sold. The latest tally means TMP commands a 34.6-percent share of the domestic auto market.
As a result, TMP said it is set to take its 11th consecutive Triple Crown as it leads in the passenger car and commercial vehicle segments, and in overall sales. TMP dominates the passenger car segment with a 30.8-percent share and among commercial vehicles with a 36.8-percent share.
The carmaker added that its sales in November “played a key role” in its success as it posted a 9-percent growth from the same month last year, registering 5,740 units sold for the month. TMP credited the Toyota Vios and Innova for its performance, citing that both models have continued to be the best-sellers in their segments. Also, the Toyota Fortuner recaptured its crown in November as the best-selling SUV in the country.
“In November, we have experienced our highest yearly sales record in just 11 months,” TMP President Michinobu Sugata said. “I am very happy as this is a clear sign that our customers continue to trust our ability to deliver the best products and services possible. The support they have shown us is what drives us to move forward and serve them even better.”
TMP bared it had recovered from the supply limitations it experienced after the Japan earthquake and tsunami disaster, and the flooding in Thailand in 2011.
