Hyundai distributor’s tally rise on passenger car sales

HYUNDAI Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) reported its vehicle sales rose in the 11 months of 2012 despite suffering a decrease in November.

HARI President and chief executive Fe Perez-Agudo said that the company sold 20, 491 units from January to November this year compared to the 18, 922 units sold in the same months last year, reflecting an 8-percent growth.

The official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines also posted a 27-percent hike in sales of passenger cars, with 12, 631 units sold from January to November this year compared to 9,913 units delivered in the same period in 2011.

Agudo said HARI’s rise in passenger car sales was “mainly attributed to the Eon, Accent and Elantra models.”

However, the company’s November sales of 1,673 units were a 25-percent decline  when compared to the 2,217 units that HARI sold in November last year. Agudo said that despite the Eon, i10 and Genesis Coupe models posting growth, the “delayed arrival of other models, especially in the light commercial vehicle segment,” slowed the company’s tally for the month.

“Come year-end, and into 2013, we expect to sustain, or even exceed, our positive performance,” Agudo said.
