Porsche’s training center produces latest batch of technicians

FIFTEEN individuals are set to make a better living here or anywhere around the globe as service specialists as they have recently graduated from a German car brand’s training program that’s held in partnership with a local technical school.

On December 12, the 15 “mechatronics” from Porsche Training and Recruitment Asia (PTRCA) were given recognition for their holistic growth during their 19-month training.

The said program—inaugurated and established in April 2008—is an ongoing partnership of PGA Cars and the Don Bosco Technical School, and provides training and financial support to underprivileged but deserving youth in automotive repair.

PGA Cars is the parent company of Porsche in the Philippines.

PGA Cars Chairman Robert Coyiuto Jr., Porsche AG Service Training Manager Dr. Stefan Broer and Fr. Jose Dindo Vitug, technical director of the Don Bosco Technical Institute, congratulated the latest batch of graduates, who would be deployed in Porsche centers around the globe.

“Always be confident in your training and ability,” Coyiuto told the graduates. “Make your families proud. Make your country proud with the exemplary work ethic that Filipinos are known for.”

Broer noted that during the last 19 months, the graduates have learned about vehicle mechanics and electronics diagnosis.

“Keep developing your knowledge and move forward to further qualifications, from Porsche System Technician onwards to Porsche Diagnosis Specialist,” he said.

For his part, Vitug said that the graduates should look back and be grateful to those who believed in them—their families, in particular. “I believe that their joy and satisfaction is to see you live to the ideals and values of your training,” he said.

To date, 126 scholars have graduated from the PTRCA program, with 16 graduates ready to be sent to Porsche centers in Abu Dhabi, Brunei, Columbia, Costa Rica, Dubai, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Yemen.
