TOYOTA DEALERS GET CITED FOR SAFETY MANAGEMENT
TOYOTA Motor Phils. (TMP) announced that the Department of Labor and Employment - Bureau of Working Conditions (DOLE-BWC) recently awarded 22 Toyota dealerships with the Safety Milestone (SMILE) Recognition for the effective implementation of safety management practices in the workplace.
The SMILE Award is given to business institutions that achieve “Zero Lost Time Accident” for the entire year, have no pending labor cases with any DOLE Regional Office, and have implemented organized safety management systems.
TMP said it was also recently conferred the DOLE Secretary’s Award of Distinction in the 8th Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan. According to TMP, the awards affirm Toyota’s strong commitment to safety.
The Toyota dealerships that received the SMILE Award were those in Balintawak, Bicutan-Parañaque, Cubao, Commonwealth Avenue, Manila Bay, Makati, Marikina, North EDSA, Otis Avenue, Pasig and Shaw Boulevard. Eleven provincial dealers were also recognized, and these were the ones from Batangas City, Bacolod City, Cebu City, Cebu-Mandaue, Cabanatuan City, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City, Dagupan City, Dasmariñas-Cavite and General Santos City.
SHELL SCHOLARS PASS SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM
PILIPINAS Shell Petroleum Corp. announced that 20 its scholars from the National Capital Region and Cavite who comprise the pilot batch of Shell’s Unlad sa Pasada scholarship program recently completed and passed their training in welding, automotive mechanics, consumer electronics, food and beverage servicing, bookkeeping, basic computer courses and mobile phone repair.
Shell explained that Unlad sa Pasada is its nationwide scholarship program for the dependents of active members of the Shell Pepeng Pasada Club (PPC), and is implemented by the Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc.
“The Shell PPC cares for its members in the transport sector and caters as well to the needs of their family members,” Pilipinas Shell Payment and Loyalty Manager Pantisha Lekhavata said. “This is the only program of its kind in the Shell companies globally. “
Established more than a decade ago, Shell PPC aims to strengthen the company’s customer ownership among drivers of public utility vehicles while improving their lives in the process. Under the scholarship benefit, Shell PPC offers capacity-building programs that enhance the skills and employability of the members’ underprivileged beneficiaries.
Pilipinas Shell said its partner-institutions in PPC’s Unlad sa Pasada program are the Don Bosco Technical Institute, STI College Cubao, Marikina Polytechnic University and Quezon City Lingkod Bayan Skills Development Center.
SUZUKI CAPS OFF NATIONAL BIKE-RACING SERIES
SUZUKI announced it held last month the final leg of the 2012 National Drag Racing Championship (NRDC).
In the event’s Underbone 115 category, Manuel Sumug-Oy from the V-Man Racing Team finished first place, followed by Norvin Dizon of Turbo Racing Pampanga and Jeffrey Teopengco of KRMC Davao.
Anver Antonio, Sumug-Oy’s teammate, also topped the Scooter 130 category, where Sumug-Oy finished second. The pair was followed by Jeffrey Pedere of NFS Tacloban.
In the Raider R 150 category, Mike Angelo Adapon of Yolac Racing Team Cavite took home the trophy while coming in second was Michael Cortez of Tsurumi Racing Team Quezon City and in third was Mark Lalwani of Team Red Speed Isabela.
Suzuki Phils. Motorcycle Division General Manager Eiji Kobayashi led in ushering the races, which were held alongside the company’s “Fun Day” event.
Kobayashi assured the event’s participants and spectators that Suzuki will continue to provide safe and legal tracks for drag racing.
Suzuki said that part of the Fun Day activities were the presentations of guest clubs Hayate Club, Skydrive Society, Skydrive Phils., Thunder Riders Organization of the Philippines, Club R150 and PSRC Laguna. Suzuki brand ambassador Ramon Bautista hosted the program.
VALVOLINE PUSHES ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY CAR CLEANER
VALVOLINE Phils. announced it is now offering an environment-friendly product called the Eagle One EnviroShine Car Wash, which the company said “works hard and deep-cleans even the most delicate surface.”
Valvoline said that the product does not contaminate water sources with its runoff. It is also guaranteed safe for all paint finishes, does not strip wax, and is body-shop safe. EnviroShine is also non-toxic, biodegradable and free from harsh solvents, according to the company.
It noted that many people do not realize that pollutants from home car-wash products can contaminate clean water sources. The chemicals that used in car-care products can also combine with the air, Valvoline said.
