| Paintjob alone says the new Bentley droptop is not for the timid. |
IT’S billed as the planet’s fastest four-seat droptop—that’s Bentley’s Continental GT Speed Convertible for you.
The newest model from one of the most prestigious badges in the automotive universe, the convertible Continental has freshly made its international debut at the Detroit Auto Show. According to its maker, the car combines the sensory pleasures of roof-down luxury touring with the shattering performance of a twin-turbo, 616-horsepower, 6.0-liter W12, all while cutting 15 percent off its fuel consumption. And even if it has a top speed of 325kph and a naught-to-100kph time of 4.4 seconds, the car, in true Bentley style, relented to no compromises when it comes to craftsmanship, luxury or refinement to deliver such unrivaled performance, Bentley added.
Speaking of performance pieces, the droptop Continental packs a close-ratio, eight-speed transmission, upgraded and lowered suspension, and retuned steering. Permanent all-wheel drive ensures optimum traction and power delivery whatever the road conditions are.
Meanwhile, the convertible’s sporting design cues include exclusive 21-inch alloys, a dark grille and “rifled” exhaust tailpipes. Inside this special Continental is a handcrafted cabin that features the Mulliner Driving Specification as standard, which blends contemporary niceties with a distinctly athletic character.
No doubt, the Continental GT Speed Convertible is the best droptop to do fast in.
