The perfect hair color to highlight not only the hair but also the hairstylist’s creativity is now the buzz word in top salons of the metro—Lakmé.
Dubbed “by hairdressers, for hairdressers,” the Barcelonan rage was officially launched on November 19 at The Peninsula Manila by its exclusive local distributor, Salon Beautifier Inc.
Lakmé owner and chief executive officer Daniel Carreras attended the event, along with his Asia Pacific manager Maurizio Doria and export director Pablo Coromina.
On hand to welcome Carreras and his team was Salon Beautifier Inc.’s president Andrea Zulueta and H.E. Jorge Domecq, Spain’s Ambassador to the Philippines.
In his remarks, Carreras revealed that he comes of generations-old family of hairdressers, which is why he develops products with hairdressers in mind.
“Remember that we [Lakmé] only manufacture the ‘tools’ for the hairstylists. You can use our products [colors and treatments] to achieve something unique, but it is your creativity that will make things happen.”
Coromina, meanwhile acknowledged the beginning of what he believes will be a lasting partnership between Lakmé and Salon Beautifier.
“Both companies are family-owned, and both have knowledge in the industry being salon operators themselves,” he elaborated.
He further enumerated what sets the 120 colors of Lakmé apart from other popular high-end hair products: A laboratory, factory and processing plant in Barcelona that assures consistent quality and control factor in every tube and bottle.
Premium products for high-class salons
In an interview with The Manila Times, Zulueta shared her reasons for bringing in yet another hair color into the country. Also active in the family business of the posh Piandre salons, she was exposed to “mismatches” between salons and products.
“It just looked so wrong to me that [class] AB beauty salons in the country offered hair products that most people see being sold in local department stores, or being used in lower-end salons. So I thought of bringing in a product that will match these markets. And Lakmé is the professional to fit to that void,” she said.
On her trip to Bologna, Italy earlier this year for a beauty salon expo, Zulueta encountered Lakmé, and was impressed with the line. She immediately partnered with Carreras who was also looking into expansions in Asia.
Colorful innovations for healthy hair
In Spain and other parts of Europe, Lakmé is prized for its “High Affinity System” (HAS). This is a patented formulation that allows the product to penetrate deep into the hair without damaging it so that hair looks vibrant and healthy.
Lakmé’s color products include: Collage, for flawless grey coverage from the most natural applications; Collage+, offering greater intensity through the High Deposit Color technology; Collage Mix, perfect for creating never-before seen shades; Collage Redmotion, for spectacular reds, coppers, and mahoganies; Collage Clair, a complete range of golden, beige and pearl shades used to tone and highlight; and Gloss, demi-permanent coloring with vibrant and lasting colors.
To complement these coloring products, Lakmé also offers a complete line for after-treatment products, as well as a styling line, K.Style, comprised of mousse, hair gels, curl balm, heat-styling spray, hair wax, sea mist sea spray, control frizz serum, hair molding paste, and matter matte finish wax.
Present in over 70 countries worldwide, Lakmé is exclusively distributed by Salon Beautifier Inc. and will soon be available in selected salons in Metro Manila.
