With Christmas just around the corner, many are already planning what food to prepare during get-togethers and which restaurant to go to celebrate the holidays. Tradit-ionally, this season is associated with more food and drinks than any other time of the year.
In fact, Filipinos are extra zealous about Christmas parties, reunions, and of course the feasts that come with it. There’s the Noche Buena that won’t be complete without lechon, pancit and fruit salad, drinking sessions with friends, or simply snacking on this season’s special treats like puto bumbong, hamon and quezo de bola.
Understandably, because of the merriment, many forget to control their food and alcohol intake. The bad news is binging does not only result in weight problems but can also harm the digestive system, making you more susceptible to tummy problems, including constipation.
So this year, make sure to be prepared for holiday binging and be ahead of every situation with these helpful tips from (Bisacodyl) Dulcolax laxative
> Never starve yourself and binge at a party. Before you leave for your par-ty, eat healthy foods like raw vegetables or a piece of fruit and drink water to curb your appetite and prepare your digestive system for food. Sudden in-take of large amounts of food may dis-rupt the normal flow of your digestion.
> Scan the buffet and decide what to eat. Include vegetables and fruits to keep your plate balanced. Pairing fatty foods with fiber-rich foods can make them easier to digest.
> Consider what and how much to put on your plate. It is a matter of self-control. Choose only what you really want to eat or what you missed the most the whole year. Or if you really want to have a taste of everything, go for portion control. Take a little of everything and resist the urge to go for seconds.
> Avoid eating when you are not really hungry. Don’t be pressured to eat just because there is a lot of food in front you. Wait for your body to tell you when it needs to eat because under this condition your body may not produce adequate digestive enzymes for efficient digestion.
> When drinking, know how many glasses of wine or bottles of beer you can handle. And don’t forget to drink plenty of water after every round. Water will not only help wash down the alcohol and keep you hydrated but also aid your digestive system to dissolve fats and soluble fiber, allowing these substances to pass through more easily.
With these helpful tips, you can truly enjoy the season’s festivities while keeping your digestive system in top shape.
