Fans of Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid might have to wait until after Christmas for the repeat of her Silver 25th anniversary concert.
Regine made the announcement during an interview with GMA’s H.O.T. TV on November 25.
“Actually, ‘yong tentative lang talaga was December 8 because we really wanted that date.
Unfortunately, ang daming hindi puwede. Kasi kailangang nating i-consider . . . ang dami namin doon. You have a 65-piece orchestra, you have the band, back-up singers, dancers and of course, you have your guests. So hindi namin matutuloy ng December 8 kaya baka maging next year na siya. But definitely it will push through,” Regine assured.
Regine added that postponing it to a later date will also be better for her as it will give her more time to recover. “For me, physically at saka lalamunan ko rin. I think it would be better, kasi by then I had a month and a half na to rest. I’m sure by then 100 percent na siya uli.”
It will be remembered that Regine lost her voice during her November 16 concert at the Mall of Asia Arena that drove her to tears as she struggled to finish the concert despite being sick.
She even sought the help of comedians Vice Ganda and Anton Diva to get the concert going before declaring that she will be having a restaging for free.
Regine’s recovery
While she might have lost her voice during the concert, Regine proved that she has become one tough momma as she continued to fulfill her commitments even though she was still clearly not 100 percent.
One such event was Pamper’s Slumber Party on November 22 at The Peninsula Manila.
Regine’s voice had returned, although it was still quite hoarse, and there is still a bit of a strain every time she talked. However, she was exuding such a motherly glow that you can’t help but admire her for gracing the said event.
She said her doctors advised her to have “voice rest,” but that she just couldn’t miss the slumber party hosted by Pampers, for her and Baby Nate, who she affectionately calls “Boo Boo.”
“Slowly, slowly, it’s getting better, actually. Pero, may konti pa rin akong malat. Inuubo pa rin ako. Grabe yung virus talaga na ‘to! But, yes, it’s getting better.”
When host Issa Litton asked her about being a mother, Regine beamed saying, “It’s been great! You know when they say it changes your life, I had no idea how great the changes would be.” (As if on cue Baby Nate began to baby talk trying to grab the microphone from her).
“It’s really wonderful; had I known it was going to be like this, I would have gotten pregnant sooner,” she said laughing.
Regine said she is a very hands on mom, and shared that she breastfed baby Nate until he was six months old. She said she was assigned to the “night shift” and that she quickly learned the most common reasons whenever baby Nate would wake up in the middle of the night and cry.
Regine said she would check first if he is hungry or sick, and if there are leaks outside the diaper. But as she eventually learned, sometimes it isn’t enough to check for wetness outside the diaper, since the baby may already feel wet even if the diaper is dry from the outside.
“To ensure baby’s happy sleep, we moms need to check dryness both inside and outside the diaper,” the celebrity mom shared, as she went on to talk about the new Pampers Comfort brand helps ensure “uninterrupted sleep.”
“It’s important that baby Nate sleeps soundly, so that I could also sleep, especially now that I’ve gone back to work, so we both wake up happy. Pampers has made being a mom so much easier, I couldn’t imagine being a mom without it,” Regine quipped.
