One of the most successful and most endearing films of all time, The Sound of Music, was based on the story of the real Von Trapp family of Austria.

It was the governess Maria’s account of her life with the widower Baron Georg Ritter Von Trapp and his seven children in the book, The Story of the Von Trapp Family Singers, which first caused a stir as a bestseller, and whose rights were later bought by a German producer.

As a Christmas treat for Filipino fans of the musical classic, the great grandchildren of Baron George Ritter Von Trapp and his first wife Agathe Von Trapp, whose life story will be in Manila for a special series of shows.

The Von Trapp Children are comprised of Justin, Amanda, Melanie and Sofia, and are also known as the “JAMS” quartet from their initials. Though young, they know every song from the movie—from “Do, Re, Mi” to “Edelwiess”—by heart, and more.

Brought by Steve O’Neal Productions, the visiting Von Trapps will perform on December 5 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila; December 6 at the Waterfront Cebu; on December 8 at the Music Museum.
