Why Vice made Kris Aquino cry

Thanks to Vice, Kris Aquino did not back out of Sisterakas

Kris Aquino and Vice Ganda may be sworn enemies in Star Cinema’s upcoming movie Sisterakas, but in real life, the confrontations they had in the movie only seemed to have strengthened their resolve and friendship.

Kris admitted Vice lashed out at her after she got sick and wanted to back out of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry some months ago.

The Queen of all Media said she wanted to give up Sisterakas because she didn’t think she could work seven days a week without sacrificing her health and other projects. Besides, her daily morning show Kris TV, she was also busy taping her upcoming soap Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw with Robin Padilla and Anne Curtis.

But Vice just wouldn’t have it.

“‘Yung totoo talaga, honestly, inaway ako ni Vice nang bonggang-bongga nang nag-backout ako at sinumpa niya ako at sinabi niya na, ‘We’re in this together. Kung papasukin natin ‘to, tayong tatlo [with Ai Ai delas Alas].’ So ang ABS-CBN na ang gumawa ng paraan para mag-adjust ng schedule,” Kris recalled.

Did Vice berate Kris into giving in to the billing of their names as well? The three are billed in the movie as “Vice Ganda, Kris Aquino and Ai Ai delas Alas.”

Kris was quick to clarify that she had no problems with being in between her two co-stars on the movie poster and credits.

“As far as comedy is concerned, angat naman silang dalawa talaga sa akin,” she began. “Vice holds the box-office record for the highest grossing film of all-time and hindi na natin mabilang kung ilang film festival na nag-top-grosser si Ai.”

When it was pointed out that she also had a top grossing comedy movie in Pido Dida with the late Rene Requiestas Kris said, “Okay lang, feeling ko naman, ako ang bunso nila,” she laughed.

She said moviegoers will see a very different Kris in this movie as she totally went all out when it came to her outlandish outfits and her colorful eyelashes.

Kris was then asked why she made fun of her previous horror movies with the line, “That was worse than a Kris Aquino horror movie.”

“You have to see the opening. Maraming nangyari that’s why I said that line. Bakit ko naman lalaitin yung mga movies ko na kapag cumulatively, eh more than P300 million pesos naman ang kinita. When you see what’s happening, you’ll understand why I said that.”

Kris then narrated how Vice made her cry when he called her up after their shoot just to congratulate her on her acting.

“Napaiyak talaga ako. Kasi, kapag pagod na pagod ka na, tapos nakarinig ka ng, ‘Uy, good job ka.’ Parang worth it pala lahat ‘to.”

Vice and Ai Ai said they were surprised by Kris comedic timing and ability to adlib.

As co-producers of the movie, Kris was also very frank about wanting Sisterakas to do well in the box office.

“It’s 50 percent Star Cinema, 25 percent Viva and 25 percent sa aming tatlo. So, napakahalaga talaga sa amin na kumita ‘to.”

Does she expect it to be No. 1?

“Noong 2010, No. 3 ako; noong 2011 No. 2. So, it’s about time na this time, No. 1.”

Sisterakas is the official entry of Star Cinema and Viva Films to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
