With a crowd estimated at 20,000- strong, MYX MO! 2012 is proof that the Pinoy music scene is far from dead. The Marikina Sports Park was packed with music fans who enjoyed performances from artists representing different genres, all seen on MYX.
Rico Blanco as his alter-ego Fiesto Bandido opened the show with a performance that was both audibly and visually stunning, kicking off one awesome celebration of homegrown talent.
The concert gathered some of local music’s biggest names like Yeng Constantino, Sponge Cola, Erik Santos, Callalily, Slapshock, Urban-dub, 6cyclemind, Young JV, Chicosci, Ebe Dancel, Pinoy rock icons The Dawn and Wolfgang plus Ely Buendia who played with band Pupil and debuted his new band, The Oktaves. Former frontliners of the band Freestyle Top Suzara and Jinky Vidal shared the stage for the first time in years, performing Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang. Pinoy hip-hop was in full effect this year, represented by Fliptop breakout stars Loonie and Abra who both performed their respective No. 1 MYX hits. Kamikazee closed the show with their signature wild, high-voltage performance, which was a fitting end for a very successful year-end celebration.
Aside from all the famous names, a MYX first this year is “MYX MOment” an online search for fresh talent who gets a once in a lifetime chance to perform on the MYX MO! 2012 stage. The winner, 25-year-old musician Volts Vallejo performed his original song Ayaw Mo, Ayaw Ko, which he wrote specifically for his audition video.
MYX VJs Nikki Gil and Chino Lui-Pio along with MYX VJ Search 2012 winners K.A. Antonio, Michelle Ng and Michael Mariano hosted the show and also joined the thousands of netizens during the live streaming via www.myxph.com.
