Parade of Stars kicks off MMFF 2012

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2012 officially opened on Sunday with the much-anticipated Parade of Stars.


Thousands of movie fanatics trooped to the Quirino Grandstand in Manila or lined Roxas Boulevard to catch a glimpse of their favorite actors, causing traffic jams.

Leading the parade was the float of the Optical Media Board headed by Ronnie Rickets.

There are eight entries for this year—Si Enteng, Si Agimat at si Ako starring Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Vic Sotto and Judy Ann Santos; Sisterakas featuring Vice Ganda, Kris Aquino and Ai-Ai delas Alas; The Strangers led by Enrique Gil, Enchong Dee and Julia Montes; Shake, Rattle & Roll 14 starring Vhong Navarro, Dennis Trillo, Lovi Poe and Eula Caballero; Thy Womb featuring the Superstar Nora Aunor, Lovi Poe and Bembol Roco; El Presidente whose main cast are portrayed by Laguna Gov. Jeorge “E.R.” Estregan, Nora Aunor and Cristine Reyes; One More Try starring Angel Locsin, Angelica Panganiban and Dingdong Dantes; and Sosy Problems, which features Rhian Ramos, Heart Evangelista, Solenn Heussaff and Bianca King.

For the New Wave Feature Film section, there are five official entries—Ad Ignorantiam, Gayak, In Nominee Matris, Paglaya sa Tanikala and The Grave Bandits.

The movies will be shown in the big screen on Tuesday (Christmas Day). The Gabi ng Parangal or awarding will be held on December 27.
