Two students died while one was injured in a shooting incident outside the premises of Far Eastern University in Manila on Tuesday night and the police said a fraternity war may be the reason behind the shooting.

Juan Paolo Nepomuceno, 17, and Gerald Martin Ramos, 21, were buying snacks along R. Papa Street at about 7 p.m. when the gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire at them hitting both in the head, neck and body. Adrian Joseph Santiago, 18, was also injured in the incident.

Ramos, who was celebrating his 21st birthday the day he was shot, and Nepomuceno were rushed to the University of Santo Tomas Hospital but were dead on arrival. Santiago on the other hand was not fatally injured and is now recovering at the Mary Chiles Hospital.

The two victims were members of FEU drum and bugle team.

On Wednesday, FEU students wore black shirts to show their dismay for the death of their fellow students.

When contacted by The Manila Times, FEU administration said that the university is still a safe area and their security is still tight. Though the university was saddened by the death of Nepomuceno and Ramos, the university said that their security did not make any lapse since the shooting happened outside the campus.

The incident was not the first act of violence within the vicinity of FEU. In October, a UST student was stabbed inside the FEU campus that stemmed from an allegedly sorority war.
