Another freak bus collision at the so-called killer highway Commonwealth Avenue injured 20 people, after two passenger buses figured in an early road accident on Friday.
Traffic investigator Paul Torres of the Quezon City Police Department Traffic Sector 5 said that the driver of Prado Bus (UVP161) June Ray Nuñez admitted that his bus lost its brake, while approaching the UP-Ayala Techno-hub along the westbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue at about 5:30 a.m., hitting the Jayross Bus Line that suddenly stopped to pick up passengers in the area.
Torres said that the injured passengers were all from the Prado bus, who were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center. The youngest among the victims was identified as Ella Mae Sta. Ana, 12, while the oldest was Vencio Abuda, 52, all of them suffered from bruises and bumps.
He added that Nuñez lost control of his bus because the road turned slippery from the light rains on Friday.
Nuñez and the other bus driver from Jayros Bus Line identified as Gegorio de Jesus were immediately taken to the Traffic Sector 5 for interrogation.
