Government security forces arrested Tuesday morning in Zamboanga City a militant involved in several high-profile kidnapping cases in the past, police reports said Wednesday.
Reports reaching the PNP operations center in Camp Crame identified the arrested as Algaber Said alias “Talga”, an alleged member of al-Qaeda linked Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).
Said was arrested at around 10:30 a.m. inside the Gateway Mall in Zamboanga City by elements of the PNP Special Action Force, Air Intelligence Group and NBI agents.
Said was reportedly involved in the Tumahubong kidnapping, Golden Harvest Plantation kidnapping and the siege of Dr. Torres Hospital in Lamitan, Basilan sometime in 2001.
