DTI sends helmet inspection teams

The Department of Trade and Industry-Calabarzon has deployed teams to conduct off-site inspection, certification and marking of ICC stickers on motorcycle helmets in several malls and public areas to become more accessible to the public as the deadline for helmet inspection comes near on December 31.


DTI Regional Director Marilou Quinco-Toledo said that offices in Calabarzon will dispatch teams to off-site venues to process helmets that are not yet certified.

Regional standards and enforcement officer Noli Manalo said that inspection and certification in DTI Regional and Provincial Offices has ended in November and there are off-sites stations in Calabarzon area where DTI teams would conduct the helmet inspection and sticker marking.

Manalo said that owners of helmets that are not yet certified may catch up and file their applications at any of the venues listed below:

Manalo advised motorcycle riders not having certified helmets may opt to buy pre-certified helmets already marked with valid ICC stickers.

In full implementation of the Motorcycle Helmet Law or Republic Act No. 10054 starting January next year, the Land Transportation Office shall apprehend motorcycle riders, both drivers and back-riders, found not wearing the certified helmets and shall be liable to a P1,500 fine aside from confiscation of the driver’s license.
