Appeals flood Facebook over missing Ateneo coed

ZAMBOANGA CITY: A 3rd year student of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) has been reported missing and appeals for her safety has flooded social media sites, including Facebook.

Reniel Belmonte, 19, was last seen in ADZU. She failed to return home and efforts to contact her were futile. Her classmates and friends have put up various appeals on Facebook hoping to get some clues on where the teenager had gone.

“We are looking for Ms. Reniel Jose Belmonte, AB International Studies 2, 19 years old. She is still missing and can’t be reached. She was last seen at around 2 p.m. yesterday when she was brought by her dad to Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Eusebio Salvador SJ campus.”

“If you saw her yesterday afternoon or if you have any information that can shed light on her disappearance, please go to the DSA office and see Mr. Stevan Dimaguila. Let us hope and pray she is alright,” one appeal reads.

Belmonte’s friends also shared her photos on Facebook in an effort to locate her whereabouts. It was unknown whether her family has filed a missing person report with the police or not.
