Trapped burglars caught in store ceiling

TWO burglars, one a minor, were arrested after they were trapped inside a store they have broken into on Christmas Day in Surigao del Sur, police reports said Wednesday.

Reports at Camp Crame identified the arrested burglars as Berto Manoyba alias “Berto”, 22 and one alias “Ion”, 13, and both are residents of Brgy. Panayogon, Madrid of said province.

Reports said that the two burglars, armed with bladed weapons, broke inside a store owned by businessman Tonton Yparraguirre at Purok 3, Brgy. Quirino also in Madrid town.

The two suspects gained entry by destroying the ceiling and once inside started looking for valuable items to be taken, but failed to notice the arrival of the store owner and his helpers, reports said.

The reports said that the two burglars were subsequently trapped and caught inside the store by the storeowner and his helpers who then called for the police.

The two are now detained at the Madrid Municipal Police Station while appropriate charges are being readied against them, reports said.
