AN elderly woman was killed following a collision between two motorcycles on Tuesday along the national highway in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur province, police reports said on Thursday.
Reports at the Philippine National Police operations center in Camp Crame identified the fatality—Rosalinda Luga Malikse, 58, of Purok-5, Barangay San Pedro, Cantilan.
The reports said that the collision between two motorcycles occurred at about 3 p.m. on Christmas Day along the highway in front of the main campus of the Surigao del Sur State University in Barangay Pag-antayan, Cantilan.
The woman was a back rider on the motorcycle driven by her husband, Felipe Maliksi, 62, when it was bumped by another motorcycle driven by Jessie Cubillas, reports said.
The reports said that due to impact of the collision, both motorcycles crashed on the cemented road, while Rosalinda Malikse was thrown off with her head landing first.
Rosalinda was then immediately rushed by her relatives to Madrid District Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician, the reports said.
The reports said that Cubillas was temporarily detained at Cantilan Municipal Police Station.
