A neighbor of late Stephanie Nicole Ella will be charged after police searched his home in Caloocan City, police in the area reported on Friday.

Supt. Jack Candelario, Caloocan police spokesman, said that they expect to file charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition against George Da.

The police searched Da’s home on Thursday after an eyewitness said that he saw Da fire his gun on New Year.

Further investigation revealed that the shooter of the gun that killed 7-year-old Ella was standing within a 50-meter radius from where the child was standing on New Year’s Eve.

Authorities found a 9-mm pistol and ammunition in Da’s house and cartridges of a .45-caliber pistol. Da has no record that shows that he has a registered .45-caliber pistol. It has already been determined that the bullet that felled Ella came from a .45.

Da is now under the custody of the police for further investigation.
