Fire razes 4-story building in Manila

A fire of still undetermined origin burned down a four-story building in a residential area in Sampaloc, Manila on Friday. At least P50,000 worth of properties were lost in the blaze, but there were no reported injuries.

Residents of the building immediately evacuated upon seeing the fire, which reportedly started at about 6:20 a.m. The fire reached the fourth alarm before it was put under control by responding firemen by 7 a.m.

The early morning fire startled people, mostly students residing at nearby boarding houses near Jocson and G. Tuazon streets in Sampaloc.

The fire also caused stress to commuters and drivers passing by the area because of the heavy traffic that it created.
