Jose Rizal University (JRU)-Air21 leader Kazim Mirza is bound to make his Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) return next conference after his stint with the Heavy Bombers in the PBA D League Aspirants’ Cup.
In an interview with The Manila Times, Mirza confirmed that he is going back to the Air21 express lineup next conference and he already got the nod from the management.
Mirza, a versatile forward and a product of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) basketball program, was drafted 16th overall in the 2010 PBA Rookie Draft by Meralco and saw action with Barako Bull Energy and Shoppinas Clickers.
Mirza was relegated to the D League after a subpar performance in limited minutes but signed a one-year contract with Air21 for this season.
The 6-foot-4 forward was part of the 2006 University Athletic Association of the Philippines champion team of UST and is expected to play a back up role behind the Express’ leading scorer KG Canaleta.
Currently, the main man of coach Vergel Meneses has been out for the Bombers’ last two games with a boil in his right thigh but JRU-Air21 managed to pull out an upset against Cagayan Valley Rising Suns on Tuesday.
Mirza will be playing in JRU-Air21’s next game and is looking forward to sweep their last three assignments to give the Bombers a playoff chance and leave an impression coming into the big league.
