SPURS SPOIL NOWITZKI’S RETURN BY ROUTING MAVERICKS
SAN ANTONIO, Texas: Danny Green scored a career-high 25 points and sparked a San Antonio 3-point barrage to lead the Spurs over Dallas 129-91 on Sunday, spoiling the NBA return of German star Dirk Nowitzki. Frenchman Tony Parker added 18 points and Tim Duncan contributed 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and two blocks for the Spurs, who hit 20-of-30 3-point attempts, powered by Green’s 7-of-8 showing from beyond the arc. Nowitzki missed the first 27 games of the season for the Mavericks because of a knee injury but came off the bench on Sunday to contribute eight points and six rebounds in just over 20 minutes on the court. KINGS REINSTATE COUSINS AFTER MISSING ONE GAME
SACRAMENTO, California: Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins was reinstated by the NBA club on Monday, two days after being suspended indefinitely for unprofessional behavior and detrimental conduct. Cousins missed the Kings’ 108-96 home victory over Portland on Sunday because of the suspension, a triumph that lifted the team’s record to 9-18, still last in the Pacific Division. Cousins exchanged angry words in the locker room with Coach Keith Smart at half-time of the Kings’ 97-85 road loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. Smart decided to bench Cousins for the entire second half, ordering him not to join the other players when they returned to the court for the second half. After the game, an apologetic Cousins said that his outburst was wrong. AFP

SPAIN RIDER OVERTURNS 2005 DOPING TEST
MADRID: Spanish cyclist Roberto Heras has reclaimed his crown for the 2005 Tour of Spain after the Supreme Court confirmed the overturning of a positive doping test in the race. Heras, 38, who rode alongside disgraced Lance Armstrong in the US Postal Service team from 2001 to 2003, tested positive for banned substance EPO or erythropoietin, in the 20th stage of the 2005 Vuelta. The Spanish cycling federation imposed a two-year ban in 2006 after finding he had taken the substance, a hormone that regenerates red blood cells. But Heras took his case to the High Court of the Spanish Region of Castile and Leon, which last year overturned the doping ban, reportedly because of irregularities in the handling of the test. AFP
