The Philippines will be hosting the 2013 edition of the Asian Triathlon Championships on April 27 to 29 at the Subic Bay Freeport in Zambales.
The Elite division along with Under-23, Elite Juniors, age-group sprint (750-meter swim – 20-kilometer bike – 5.4-kilometer run) and mini-sprint (350m swim – 9.8km bike – 3km run) categories will be on April 27 while the Age-Group and Inter-Club races with standard distance (1.5km swim – 40km bike – 10km run) will be held the following day.
The Asian Mixed Team Relay championships and the Para Triathlon competitions are scheduled on April 29.
A total of $12,000 cash prize is at stake in the Elite, Under-23 and Junior Sprint categories, while winners in the standard distance age-group, sprint distance and Inter-Club events will get individual medals.
The Asian Championships, now on its 20th edition, will be organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines in cooperation with the International Triathlon Union, Asian Triathlon Confederation and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Tourism Department.
Prior to the Asian Championships, the TRAP holds its first two vents—the Philippine Sports Commission-Aquathlon on January 27 and the National Age-Group Triathlon series at Dungaree Beach, Subic Bay Freeport on February 3.
