Lady Falcons drop Lady Maroons in UAAP softball

Seasoned champion Adamson University clobbered University of the Philippines (UP), 8-1, to stay on top of the standings in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 75 women’s softball tournament.

The Lady Falcons, led by some members of the national team that ruled the 2012 World Series Big League in Kalamazoo, Michigan, cruised to their fifth straight win to remain unbeaten.

In other matches, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tigresses overpowered the De La Salle University Lady Archers, 11-2, while the University of the East (UE) Lady Warriors toppled the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs, 7-2.

UST improved to 3-1 for solo second while NU and UE shared the third with 2-2. La Salle fell to 2-3 followed by UP (1-3) and Ateneo de Manila University (0-4).

In baseball, defending champion NU repulsed UP, 3-2, to start its bid on a bright note at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium in Manila.

Last season’s runner-up Ateneo also made its presence felt by scoring an emphatic 15-3 victory over Adamson to join the NU Bulldogs on top of the standings.

UST, on the other hand, nailed its first win via a 9-4 decision over La Salle.
