Adamson University and University of Santo Tomas (UST) will be disputing the solo third spot when they face each other today in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 75 women’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Adamson-UST match is set at 3:30 p.m. while Far Eastern University guns for its second win against winless University of the East in the opening game at 2 p.m.
Adamson and UST are sharing the No. 3 position with identical 3-2 cards behind leading Ateneo de Manila University with an unblemished 6-0 mark and defending champion De La Salle University with 5-1 slate.
The Lady Falcons look to bounce back from a heartbreaking 25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 23-25, 11-15 loss to the Lady Eagles on Sunday.
Ma. Paulina Soriano, who scored 21 points against Ateneo, will be leading the charge for Adamson along with open hitters Sheila Pineda and Mayette Zapanta, and setter May Macatuno.
The Tigresses, for their part, are fresh from a straight-set win over the Lady Warriors, 26-24, 25-21, 25-23, with Maika Ortiz topping all scorers with 16 markers.
Besides Ortiz, UST leans on skipper Judy Ann Caballejo, Jessey de Leon and Carmela Tunay while Maruja Banaticla is back in the fold after sitting out in their last game due to continuous vomiting.
