UNIVERSAL Reality Combat Championship (URCC) founder Alvin Aguilar said that there is no final word yet if URCC unbeaten flyweight Rey Docyogen would fight in One Fighting Championship in Malaysia next month.
According to a press release by One FC published in philboxing.com, Docyagen, a Team Lakay member, will stake his unblemished 10-0 win-loss record against Shinichi Kojima at the Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur on February 2.
Aguilar, the father of Philippine mixed martial arts (MMA) told The Manila Times that he cannot just allow any of his fighters to just fight for the sake of money and short-lived fame.
“You know, it’s all about One FC’s early press releases but no worry One FC President Victor Cui is my friend,” said Aguilar. “But I’m just protecting the reputation and condition of my fighters.”
Aguilar explained that his goal is for Docyogen and his other fighters to become the best in their respective weight divisions before fighting in an international MMA tournament like the ONE FC or even in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
“If ever I allowed them to fight and they lose badly, what would happen to their careers? I want to assure first that they are well prepared so they will be there for a longer period of time,” said Aguilar.
Aguilar also assured local MMA fans that the URCC is coming up with bigger and more exciting tournaments in 2013.
