COACH Norman Black of the defending champion Talk ‘N Text is aiming for a sweep of the best-of-seven titular series when the squad battles Rain or Shine today in Game Four of the 38th Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Texters are one win away from victory having won Game one (87-81), Game Two (89-81) and Game Three (89-80).
“We will go for the championship on Wednesday. With our 3-0 advantage, we are putting ourselves in a good position to get the championship. We will try to get the win on Wednesday,” said Black, who is gunning for his 11th career title as a coach.
But coach Yeng Guiao of Rain or Shine is bent on making one last stand, “On Wednesday, I don’t think we will have changes in terms of game plan. We will just try to delay their victory celebration.”
Guiao already downplayed their chances to bounce back since no team in history ever recovered from a 0-3 deficit not even in the National Basketball Association in the United States.
A sweep by the Tropang Texters would make them the fourth team in the League’s history to accomplish a sweep of the titular series.
“It’s just important to keep the guys focused. What we will try to do is not very easy and we don’t want to give Rain or Shine any breathing room. That’s why have to go for it on Wednesday,” Black added.
