Getting everyday Pinoys to say ‘O, Wow!’

They say it is the little things that make a difference. Sure, big gestures are those that get ample recognition—big donations, massive fund raisers and the like, but more often than not, it is the small unexpected everyday surprises which never fail to put a grin on our face.

The “O, Wow!” campaign is an embodiment of just that. In the routine monotonous daily grind, Team O reminds everyone that we should never forget to take time, step back, and seize those spontaneous moments that just make you say, “Oh wow.”

As such, The “O, Wow!” campaign brings people a series of random unexpected stunts in different places across the Metro. Led by members of Oishi’s “Team O”, Oishi brand ambassador Elmo Magalona, ventologist and host Tim Yap, Oishi Smart C+ endorser Slater Young, Rock Ed’s Gang Badoy, and Internet superstar Ramon Bautista, these individuals live and breathe fun through their activities, advocacies and their lifestyle.

The first “O, Wow!” moment happened in different MRT and LRT stations in Metro Manila where Oishi gave commuters a surprise worth remembering. Oishi surprise packs, pre-loaded MRT/LRT cards and flowers were given out to office-goers, students and travelling families—a great halt from the tense environment we always see during weekday commutes in the Metro.
Next stop: Marcelo H. Del Pilar High School in the Bulacan Sports Complex where Team O members Tim Yap and Elmo Magalona showered students with Oishi O, Wow Surprise Packs.

Thousands of Oishi snacks fell from the sky—or more specifically from the chopper that hovered above the school grounds. The afternoon became one to remember with lots of games, prizes, snacks; and an added bonus of Elmo dancing to “Teach Me How to Dougie,” and singing a duet with a random girl from the audience. Not a dull moment was found and everyone went home happy with their snack loot.

This was quickly followed by more “O, Wow!” moments at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines where Team O member Ramon Bautista took 10 men in red spandex suits running around the campus with Oishi O, Wow Surprise Packs attached to their bodies. Students shook off the campus blahs with the opportunity to grab a free snack from a running red body.

The day culminated with Ramon Bautista entertaining the crowd with pickup lines; and with endorphins still on a high, the red spandex boys closed the afternoon by dancing to the tune of “Macho Ka” by Parokya ni Edgar.

Team O member Gang Badoy took the lead in the most recent O, Wow! where Glorietta food court goers witnessed the surprising transformation of an Oishi sampling booth into a rock stage, complete with far-out performances from Pinoy rock band, Sandwich. Badoy, who is also the founder of RockEd Philippines, a volunteer group working to provide venues and events for alternative education, raised awareness on anti-bullying. Considering the malls to be a venue for families to bond together, the advocacy turned out to be in its proper venue. She emphasized that the gig was done not just to surprise people, but also to uplift the feelings of those who were bullied. “Kasi dapat lahat meron respect, meron dignity—I think that’s an ‘O, Wow! Life’”, Gang stated.

The “O, Wow!” campaign aims to make life less serious and hopefully create a spark amongst Filipinos. Gently and slowly, this spark churns creativity, which never disappoints to springboard success. Yet the fun is only just beginning.
