The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), with the support of the National
Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), has engaged the stakeholders in the film industry by providing education on intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
Since March 2008 up to 2011, a series of copyright lectures and conferences (referred to as “Punto de Vista Pelikula”) were conducted in Manila and different regions where mainline as well as independent filmmakers and other creative sectors involved in the filmmaking process were informed about their rights under the Intellectual Property Code (Republic Act 8293).
Continuing the fruitful collaboration, IPOPHL and NCCA will hold a get-together titled “Punto de Vista Pelikula: Prospects for Collective Management and Audiovisual Performances” on November 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Darangen Room 3rd floor, 633 NCCA Building, General Luna Street, Intramuros, Manila.
This year’s informal gathering focuses on specific copyright issues: collective management of copyright and the recently concluded “Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances.” It will be a great opportunity to closely interact with collective management experts both local and foreign and to consider the benefits of accession to the Beijing Treaty.
