Where’s the Sheep duo plays music for Mother Earth

In this modern age where many young people pursue the latest trends but remain distant, if not indifferent, to seemingly profound matters such as faith or the environment, two childhood friends jump off the ship and boldly swim against the tide.

Vocalist Mike Shimamoto and guitarist Hero Mauricio are the force behind the country’s newest contemporary praise duo Where’s The Sheep. They recently released a well-acclaimed self-titled album under Vicor Music featuring praise, worship and inspirational songs including covers of “God Gave Me You”, “Only Hope”, “Who Am I”, and “Through It All”.

Shimamoto describes the album as, “Very blue and green and it speaks a lot about our group. We designed the album in such a way that it really just makes you reflect and accompany you in your quiet times.” Mauricio affirms with a clear image in mind, “blue like the sky and green like grass!”

The duo is not restricted to playing music for praise or worship though. In fact, both Shimamoto and Mauricio are also active supporters of causes such as nature conservation.

It is then fitting that Where’s The Sheep was invited to take part in Haribon Foundation’s Million Hectare Challenge 2012 held last November 25 at Liwasang Ullalim, CCP Complex.

“The offer to play for Haribon got us really excited. We believe that the foundation is doing something meaningful that we did not want to miss the opportunity,” said Shimamoto.

He furthered, “I also personally enjoy running, so I thought with the mix of that and music, it sounded like a really fun event to do.” He was actually among the thousands of runners who joined the race.

With such, Where’s The Sheep ascertains that in this age, there are young people who opt to stand out and make a difference. Be it as simple as making music that touches the soul and bestowing kindness upon nature.

The self-titled, debut album of Where’s The Sheep album is available at all record bars nationwide. Only from Vicor Music. Visit www.facebook.com/wheresthesheep.
