Philippine Premier League (PPL) commissioner Bernie Sumayao is looking to initiate a fresh start for the struggling club football competition in the country.

The PPL replaced the now-defunct Philippines Football League (PFL), which ran for two seasons before folding up late last year. In the past decade, two top division leagues—the PFL and the United Football League—closed due to various problems.
