SOME 7,600 employees, or a third of the work force, of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources will lose their jobs because of efforts to streamline the government bureaucracy, outgoing Environment Secretary Elisea Gozun said on Tuesday.

Gozun said those who will be affected were workers whose offices overlap the functions of other units and employees who were performing dismally.
