THE Armed Forces of the Philippines on Wednesday raised its opposition to the proposal by the House of Representatives to scrap the Armed Forces modernization program for next year and rechannel its multibillion-peso budget to health and education programs of the government.

Saying that the scrapping of the program would further delay its modernization, the Armed Forces information chief, Lt. Col. Daniel Lucero, warned that the proposal, if approved, would in effect hamper military operations aimed at attaining peace in the country.
