URDANETA, Pangasinan—The City Mayors League vice president for Luzon Mayor Amadito Perez Jr. said his colleagues in the organization expressed consternation over the national government’s plan of reducing the internal revenue allotment (IRA) of local government units (LGUs).

In an interview at his office here Friday, Perez told The Manila Times that the bulk of expenditures of city governments across the nation are being paid out of the IRA, hence, any reduction in whatever proportion could be detrimental to the financial condition of the cities.
