Baguio council finally starts fleshing out environmental code

BAGUIO CITY—Sectoral groups launched here on Thursday a series of discussions to flesh out an environmental code for this mountain resort that continues to be weighed down by the ill effects of rapid urbanization.

The move, initiated by neophyte Councilor Erdolfo Balajadia, chairman of the environmental committee of the Sangguniang Panglungsod, had been long in the coming, 95 years after Baguio’s founding on September 1, 1909, as the country’ summer capital.
