BAGUIO CITY—The self-styled Cordillera People’s Liberation Army (CPLA) announced Thursday that it has unilaterally terminated its peace accord with the government after it forged a peace agreement with the Aquino administration at the Mt. Data Hotel in Mountain Province about 18 years ago.

The unilateral termination of the peace accord, or “gopas,” came after CPLA leaders formally returned to the Office of the Executive Secretary on September 5 the peace tokens given them by the Aquino administration after the signing of the peace accord in 1986, which signaled the end of hostilities in the Cordillera region.
