THE all-smiles American Idol finalist Jasmine Trias snubbed members of the Malacañang press when she paid a courtesy call on President Arroyo.Trias, who is in town for a one-night concert, paid a courtesy call on the President in Malacañang Tuesday. But when Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye asked Trias if she wanted to meet members of the press, she responded by a mere shake of her head, which meant no.Trias’s response was in stark contrast to that of the member of the Taiwanese boy band F4, Jerry Yan, popularly known as Dao Ming Si, who mingled with the media despite the fact that he barely speaks English, during his courtesy call in Malacañang last year.Fifteen members of the Trias clan joined the Hawaiian-born Jasmine during her visit to the President.Trias was accompanied by her father Rudy, her mother and two younger siblings as well as her uncle, Lito Trias, who works as chief purser inside Malacañang. The 17-year-old American Idol finalist gave Mrs. Arroyo two boxes of Hawaiian macadamian nuts and pictures of her.-- Ma.
