Indeed, Philippine Dancesport has come a long way. From its beginnings 8 years ago—and the birth pains that went with it—it has now grown into a healthy sport that is ripe for the international dancesport arena. In fact, the dancesport world is now looking at the Philippines as the country to contend with. Our athletes are gearing for the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) competition next year, where dancesport will be featured for the first time as a medal sport, and we are definitely going for the gold!
At the SEA Games Selection Competition on November 12, the pairs that will represent the Philippines have been selected. They are Rico Rosima and Faye Salvador, and Emmanuel Reyes and Maira Rosete for the Standard Discipline; and Michael Mendoza and Belinda Adora, and John Erolle Melencio and Dearlie Gerodias for the Latin Discipline.
