MAZDA Philippines is now seducing car enthusiasts to rediscover the genuine thrill of driving with the all-new Mazda3 5-door. Designed to break new ground in the hatchback segment of the auto market, Mazda engineers and designers faced challenge with the development of the vehicle that sets the standards in its class. With its world-class design, impressive handling and incomparable functionality, the Mazda3 5-door is a car to watch out for.
Touted as the functional and just-as-stylish brother of the Mazda3 sedan, the Mazda3 5-door breathes new life to the hatchback scene in the Philippine car industry. The Mazda3 is the realization of the Mazda brand’s DNA: distinctive design, exceptional functionality, outstanding aerodynamics, and responsive handling and performance.
The Mazda3 5-door’s European-inspired design that earned the approval of car aficionados across the globe, features a long wheelbase, short overhangs, well-balanced belt line, boxy top and clear-cut fender gaps, giving the car its athletic and energetic looks. Aside from the fresh look the boxy top gives, it also offers the luxury of having additional trunk capacity not found in most sedans.
“The entire Mazda team is thrilled with the arrival of the Mazda3 5-door in the local scene. It will not only excite customers with its distinctive design, but drivers will also take pleasure in the driving performance that comes with the vehicle,” said David Macasadia, managing director of Mazda Phils.
The car is powered by a 1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve MZR engine that provides linear acceleration, immediate response and abundant torque. The engine is mated to Mazda’s Activematic transmission, offering the flexibility and convenience of shifting between an automatic transmission and a manual transmission.
The Mazda3 5-door’s front suspension uses McPherson struts and is distinguished by a four-pint plastic mounting system between the subframe and body by liquid-filling bushings—usually found in C/D-segment cars—at the rear of the lower arms. Its design enables superior handling stability and ride comfort with minimal noise, vibration and harshness.
Switches, knobs and other functional parts in the Mazda3 5-door are positioned logically around the cabin to ensure visibility and intuitive usability. The backrest of the front seats is supported by posture springs that conform to the body shape as they compress. The audio system sports a modular design that keeps the center stack looking neat with audio switches bearing amber-red back-lighting.
The Mazda3 5-door also offers the flexibility of having additional trunk capacity not commonly found in sedans. And to top all these, the hatchback is equipped with safety features, such as driver-side lumbar support, whiplash reducing headrests and child-anchor seats.
The Mazda3 5-door now joins the Tribute, the Mazda6 and the Mazda3 sedan in the Japanese carmaker’s stable in the Philippines. Available in Palladium White, Steel Silver, Methane Blue and Techno Gray, the Mazda3 5-door is priced at P755,000 and is available at Mazda Quezon Avenue, Mazda Greenhills and Mazda Alabang.
