SABAH, Malaysia—For the third straight day, international squad iRule proved untouchable, ruling Stage 3 of the 2004 Outdoor Quest here Saturday to pad its overall lead going into the most crucial test of the five-leg adventure race, Monday’s 53-kilometer race up the imposing Mt. Kinabalu.
The 20 competing teams, weary from three straight days of battling the elements and against each other, took a much-needed break Sunday, enabling them to recharge their batteries for the last two days of the event offering $46,000 to the winning team out of the total pot of $255.000.
