Once again, I received an invitation to a children’s party last week and once again I sent an apologetic text message that I would not be attending. It’s a pretty commonly known fact among my friends that I don’t like children’s parties. I think that new parents are detached from the world and don’t really pay attention to anything else outside of their new parental responsibilities.  By the fact that they still haven’t heard that I don’t like children’s parties (either that or they blatantly ignore me), I don’t think I’m that wrong.

It’s not that I don’t like kids. It’s actually quite the opposite. Kids are great. How can you not love the precocious antics of a bright-eyed infant or toddler? I get along fabulously with kids as I’m always willing to play with children’s toys or read stories. It’s the parents I’m not very keen on.
