President Arroyo on Friday said that Pope John Paul II had given moral impetus to the bloodless “people power” revolt that toppled her corruption-tainted predecessor.
The Pope, who died last weekend at age 84, “had a very keen sense of understanding of what was happening in the Philippines,” the President told CNN when asked about the role of the Vatican in the Church and the military-backed uprising that toppled Joseph Estrada in 2001.
